Hi guys,

I am a beginner fly-fisher from Lithuania; my name is Donatas. I arrive in Italy on 11 February 2011 (my colleagues are going skiing, but I prefer fishing instead). I need some advise on fly-fishing in the northern part of Italy. Could you please tell me:

– is it worth going fly-fishing to fiume Dora Riparia and/or fiume Dora di Bardonecchia (any trouts there)?
– is the prohibition period already over by that time (11 Feb) in the above rivers?
– what license/permit do I need in order to fly-fish in those streams? where can I get those? is the procedure of getting the license very complicated and how much does that cost?
– what flies are you usually fishing on at that time of the year in northern Italy (photos of the recommended flies would be highly appreciated)? Do you fish on muddlers, spuddlers, etc.?
– is there anyone residing near the above rivers, who would like to go fishing along with me?

It’s a pity but fishing is prohibited until March, so I will leave my fly-fishing rod at home  . Still hope to check Italian rivers some other time. In such a case I will drop another message here.
