Sono stato appassionato di pesca sin da bambino, ma sono diventato un vero pescatore quando scoprii la pesca a mosca. Durante il Natale del 2005 visitai un negozio che vendeva un piccolo kit per iniziare. Mi sentivo annoiato e pensai di provare a imparare a costruire. Scoprii presto che costruire era un ottimo passatempo, mi rilassava e mi aiutava a recuperare lo stress accumulato lavorando. Dopo un po di tempo mi sentii pronto per provare qualcosa di più complicato e iniziai ad appassionarmi a mosche classiche tra le quali quelle americane tipo Catskill. Un altro genere che mi ha appassionato sono le sommerse tipo spider, north country style. Di base amo tutto quello che è tradizionale. Tempo fa lessi qualcosa che catturò il mio interesse, il mantra del Fly Fisher club di Londra: nella pesca c’è molto più che catturare un pesce. Quelle parole dicono tutto.
Ho partecipato al SIM festival dello scorso anno e mi sono molto
divertito, ottima atmosfera e un pubblico appassionato. Sono onorato di avere ancora la possibilità di sedere con i miei amici italiani. Ancora una volta costruirò mosche in stile Catskill.

I have since my youth loved fishing, but I became a fisherman when I discovered fly fishing. My life as a fly fisherman started with tying flies, tried to fish with the fly for the first time in the summer of 2005, thought it was interesting but nothing more happened than that. During the Christmas holidays 2005 and 2006 I visited a fishing store and they had a beginners kit on sale, felt kind of bored at the moment and thought I could give it a go. Discovered that tying flies was a great recreation, tying flies made me calm and I found it to be a great way to empty heavy thoughts gathered at work.
After a while I felt ready to give the more advanced tying a chance, found that I really loved the traditional patterns, especially the early American dry flies, the so called “Catskill style dry flies”. Another genre that has caught my attention is the English “North Country flies”, basically I just love everything traditionally. I once read an article that caught my Intrest, the headline was the flyfishers club of Londons mantra “There is more to fishing than catching fish”….Those words says it all.
I attended las year SIM Festival and really enjoyed it, a great atmosphere and a dedicated crowd, loved every minute of my stay. I am honored to once more be able to sit amongst my Italian friends. I will during the weekend demonstrate my greatest passion within flytying, the Catskill Style dries.
